Xochitl E. Dixon

Xochitl (So-Cheel) E. Dixon, a disabled Mexican author, enjoys serving Jesus with her beautifully diverse family and her service dog, Callie. She’s been married since 1994 to her best friend, Dr. W. Alan Dixon Sr., and is blessed with the privilege of loving their two sons, two daughter-in-loves, and eight (and counting) multi-ethnic and multi-cultural grandchildren. She shares biblical encouragement and Scripture-based prayers that equip and encourage readers of all ages to grow spiritually, while fulfilling the Great Commission and living out out the Greatest Commandment with Spirit-empowered love, hope, joy, and faith. With a passion for discipleship, she crosses international, ethnic, cultural, and generational lines through her work for children and her regular contributions to the Our Daily Bread (www.odbm.org) and God Hears Her (www.godhearsher.org) daily devotionals and compilations.

Her children’s picture books, Different Like Me (Our Daily Bread, 2020), What Color is God’s Love? (WaterBrook Kids, 2024), and Wonderfully, Marvelously Brown (WaterBrook Kids, 2024), use bookend Bible verses, lyrical rhymes, and vibrant illustrations to teach biblical truths, while celebrating ethnic and cultural diversity, promoting the nurturing of loving community, and advocating for disability awareness. Her first picture book, Different Like Me (Our Daily Bread, 2020), was a 2021 Evangelical Christian Publishing Association Christian Book Award Finalist, has been translated into Spanish, Diferente como yo (2022), Dutch, Simplified Chinese, and Portuguese, and is now available in Hong Kong.

Xochitl contributed the life application feature, “Choose to Change,” in Tyndale’s NLT Go Bible for Kids (2024) and has devotionals included in NavPress’s The Message Bible for Women, which releases in 2025. Her first 31-day devotional Waiting for God: Trusting Daily in God’s Plan and Pace, was first published by Our Daily Bread in 2019 and is being refreshed and relaunched as Waiting for God: Trusting Him for the Answers to Every Prayer in 2025, along with her second Our Daily Bread 31-day devotional, Sacred Strides: Walking in the Power and Presence of the Holy Spirit.

Using strong biblical teaching, engaging illustrations, and practical life-application with a dash of humor, Xochitl serves as a speaker, podcast guest, and writing workshop instructor for in person and online events. She invests in other writers as the Vice President of the Redbud Writers Guild and connects with readers, offers biblical encouragement, exclusive giveaways, free resources, and updates on books and events through her Pause for Prayer YouTube series, on Instagram, and through her blog and newsletter.
