Pierre Tami

Pierre is a Swiss businessman who left a successful career in the airline industry to join Youth With a Mission in 1982. His ministry eventually took him to Cambodia, where he and his wife, Simonetta, developed Hagar International, a global ministry that operates a wide range of social programs and commercial entities in Cambodia, Afghanistan and Vietnam, and opened the first Hagar Shelter in 1994.

Pierre has received numerous awards for his labors. He has been honored by the Government of Cambodia and appointed by the Swiss Federal Consul as Honorary Consul General to the Kingdom of Cambodia, for his efforts to relieve suffering and restore the victims of abandonment and abuse to lives of dignity. The U.S. Department of State selected Pierre as one of its six international heroes in the fight against human trafficking in 2004.

In 2005, Pierre was chosen as one of the world’s most “Outstanding Enrepreneurs” by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. Both Pierre and Simonetta have received the Brandenberger Award from the Brandenberger Foundation, a Swiss foundation that honors individuals for their “great service for the welfare of mankind.”
