Michael Mendoza

Michael (Mickey) Mendoza has worked with teenagers and young adults for the last ten years as a volunteer coach, church volunteer, public school teacher, and most recently a full-time youth pastor. He spent the last three years as Pastor of Student Ministries in large church settings, including almost two years at Westside Family Church. In addition, Mickey founded the Gathering, a partnership of several local youth ministries in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area.

Mickey, a Filipino-American author, graduated from Central Missouri State University with degrees in Commercial Art and Art Education in 2002 and 2004. After seeing the spiritual voids in the public schools, he felt called to full-time ministry and graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2008. This published author, most notably with Focus on the Family and Group Magazine, has worked with students dealing with depression, dysfunctional family settings, sexual addictions, grieving, and other adolescent issues in both the church and secular settings.

Today Mickey’s passions include (in no particular order) collecting baseball cards, playing fetch with his dog Jasmine, having dinner with his wife Ashley, wrestling with his daughter MacKenna, and telling teenagers and young adults (and whoever else wants to listen) about the person of Jesus Christ. In his spare time, Mickey hones his writing through writing conferences and critique groups.
